Back to School
So i started school again on Monday. I'm taking some pre-req's at JJC before I start my master's in the fall, and I have to say it's pretty weird being in school again. Main source of strangeness: people using backpacks on wheels. Apparently this is quite common in schools today, but I just don't get it. I remember a time in high school when I was getting ready to leave for school and my backpack was so heavy that I literally fell over, but I dealt with it. Also amusing is that in one of my classes there are 2 nannies. I think I may need to discuss their profession with them so that I can lie better the next time I pretend to be a nanny when I'm out at the bars.
Saturday night a bunch of us headed out to Naperville for a change of pace. After an encounter with sledders dropping their cowboy hats on Weber, Megan, Courtney, Rob and I hung out at Barnes and Noble for a while while we waited for Nancy, Brandon and Mike to show up. After finding a book called "Baby Mama Drama" and seeing a man in very tight stretch pants, it was time to head to Features, where we spent the rest of the night. Nothing too exciting happened, except for a guy telling Megan that she was "f**king beautiful." Apparently this is a trend at Features, as a couple years ago Shannon got the same line there, but Shannon's suitor looked like Yosemite Sam and Megan's was a 5'3" Hispanic man. Maybe they were friends though. Other recent pick-up lines I've been told to put up on the website: To Megan, at Samy's: "You game?" I think she should have answered, "Yes, Taboo," or perhaps, "Yes, Sorry." Another one: a random guy came up to me at Samy's. He said, "You're too beautiful to be alone," which I wasn't, I was sitting with friends. He quickly followed that one with, "Don't worry, I'm married." Strange.
Herald News hasn't been too wacky lately, but I did enjoy an item in the Open Line today:
No more chocolate
I'm calling to tell everyone that I'm a chocoholic, but after seeing the news of what Fannie May is doing to their employees, cheating them out of their pensions, just kicking them out the door, and let's face it, we know those CEOs are not going to go hungry I will never eat another piece of chocolate in my life. I hope others follow suit. It's actually healthier for everyone. I don't believe anything that Fannie May wasn't doing well. It didn't matter if it was a holiday or not. They had business. They had mine. Never again. Joliet
Although it's great this woman is making a change to a healthier lifestyle (it's "actually" healthier to stay away from chocolate, who knew?), I don't think her one-woman stand against the perils of chocolate is necessary. There are other brands besides Fannie May!
Also entertaining is this picture from the front of today's Good Sports mini-magazine. I just love the dramatic facial expressions, it just looks so odd! I wish I had more stories today, but it's Wednesday and not much is going on, so I'll be back later in the week. Adios!
